My sweet lil' darling -Rithanya @ Mittu

My little girl was named as Rithanya on her 46th day march 25th 2007. By the way she has got the call name "Mittu" right from her day 1(in my tummy). And here comes the story of the naming ceremony. we were very prompt in deciding ceremony date, venue,Mittu's dress ..etc. But the main hero of the function "the name" was not ready. We were searching for a meaningful name which should be of tamil origin (my hubby's wish), should be novel (my wish) and should match the numerology(ofcourse..its going to decide her future-- said by my mom). We shortlisted 2 names, "poovizhi priya" and Rithanya". Poovizhipriya means the loveable gal whose eyes are like flowers and it is a perfect tamil name.

Rithanya means spring season of the family.By the way this name has a high background flash-back. By my 13th age,I got fascinated by this name, as it sounded very cute and melodeous when called out. I dont remember from where i got this name.Actually,i have reserved this name for my brother's daughter(FYI- my bro is only a year elder than me!!!) among my family and relatives, as an astrologist had analysed my "jathagam" (horoscope) and strongly stated that i will be having only sons in future and no daughters and bet his job if it goes wrong (i am searching for that person now ;-)).So i have no hint that i will be crowning my daughter with this name.

Basically i am poor in remembering names but this name remained in my mind for 11 years.
Both the names are good in its own way. hmm... i should have got twins, atleast for this :-). I searched for a piece of paper to pick one name out of 2. I realised that we stopped using paper long back. we are used to notepads and MS word even to write grocery list. Technology has improved soooooooooo much :-) . OK then why to look back, use our technology. my hubby wrote, sorry.. typed each name in 2 notepads, out of my sight and minimised both and asked me to open one notepad. Actually I like both the names.Anyhow Rithanya is a brain child of mine for 11 years.... While opening the notepad,i could hear even my heart beats as Rithanya. yes.. i got it. Afterall it has become my sweet lil' darling's name....hurrrrray!!!

Mittu looked so cute on the day of naming, in her new frock, presented by her uncle(my bro). We performed pooja in a temple and the rituals -- say Mittu's new name in her ears and touch her tongue with honey in a golden ring. She tasted honey for the first time in her life and liked it very much and asked for more.I love to see her tasting the honey with her little rosy lips(cheppu vaai in tamil).
